The Hobart Shakespearians

This documentary film made me think about how great learning can be for some kids.  It seemed like they were having so much fun and were really enjoying everything they did.  They were a part of so many interesting and educational experiences that they will probably never forget.  While all of the activities were used to further their knowledge, they were still fun and engaging for the children.  Two of the methods that I thought worked the best was all of the activities the children were a part of.  They were able to go to Washington D.C. for a field trip which was really exciting for the kids and made learning fun.  Another method I liked was how the teacher said he grouped the children in three different groups, one group was the kids who really understood, a middle group who kind of understood and a third group who didn't care and didn't want to learn.  I liked this method because I think it opens up the eyes of the children in the third group to start learning and participating because they want to be just as smart as all the other children.

A quote I liked was said by a speaker who came into their classroom, "I love coming here because it makes me feel at home."  I thought that was saying a lot, especially coming from a grown man.  If someone of his age feels comfortable in that classroom then you know the children have to feel at home as well.  A personal goal I have for the next year is to get good grades in all of my classes.

  1. With the quote you chose, I feel like that's how all the children feel. Like the classroom is like their home and they feel safe there because only good things come from there and they get to not see the negativity that they might seem at home.

  2. I also like the grouping system. The children who don't want to learn, they also don't want to be singled out so they behave.

  3. I also like the way how they broke the class up into three groups. I think this does help the children in the third group a lot because they don’t want to be left out and try harder.

  4. I like how he can make the lessons fun and educational, it really helps keep the kids who don't want to learn engaged.

  5. I also think that a large part of the academic success of the children in this class was due to them having fun in the class room.
