I thought that Rafe Esquith is a great guy who really cares for his students, and that he deserves the teacher of the year award for all that he does. "By learning Shakespeare these children are learning enormous amounts of vocabulary enormous amounts of discipline, teamwork, and the respect for one another." This quote shows that he really wants these kids to learn and get along with each other. In fifth grade I had a teacher who had her own money system but she gave up on it halfway through the year, so it is kind of cool to see how someone did it successfully.
I think that the money system that he put in place was a very effective because kids felt like they had a better spot when they were closer to him because it cost more, so it probably got them to pay attention more to keep get the money to keep those spots. I also think that the punishment system is good because it really makes the kids be nicer to each other. Like with their baseball games how they can only play if they aren't being mean to the other kids.
My goal for next year is to be taking more courses that are required for my major and to do well in them.
