obstacle to learning

I believe one big obstacle to learning for children now is the economy. When our economy is down many schools have to lay off teachers. In turn students cannot learn effectively and there are more students to teacher ratio.

  1. Agreed. Now a days children are not getting as much one on one time with their teachers because of the shortage of teachers causing some to struggle in the classroom.

  2. I didn't think about the teacher in a students life influencing how well they learn but I agree. Having a lot of students per teacher isn't good. Some students may be slower or just not understand a lesson. A good school should have enough teachers to be able to help a student if he/she needs it. My two big problems for elementary school students was attention spans and home life but I can see that your idea is a big problem for young students too.

  4. Totally agree. Also, teachers have to be one of the most under-paid and under-appreciated occupations today. Most teachers have to work a side job to be able to pay bills, and the high-turnover rate from teachers quitting because they can make more money in another profession has to be contributing to decreased educational standards in the classrooms.

  5. I agree. Also I think that we should be more focused on schools and how they are funded in a bad economy. These kids are going to be our future and need them to be educated.
